Welcome to the inaugural issue of The Modern Christian Ezine! Hopefully we can help inspire you to live a more fun and enjoyeable Christian life. Let's get things started with a little story.
Which Way to Heaven?
Reverend Billy Graham tells of a time early in his ministry when he arrived in a small town to preach a sermon. Wanting to mail a letter, he asked a young boy where the post office was. When the boy had told him, Dr. Graham thanked him and said, "If you'll come to the Baptist Church this evening, you can hear me telling everyone how to get to heaven."
The boy replied, "I don't think I'll be there... You don't even know your way to the post office."
So what is the point of this story? Well other than the fact that it's funny, it's a nice segue into a deeper topic. The fact that you do know the way to heaven. You know that you have to call on the name of the Lord Jesus. You know that you have to ask Jesus to come into your heart and forgive your sins. You have to repent and be baptized. If you've done all this, you know you're eventually going to end up in heaven.
Now that you know, you can stop worrying about all of the monotonous things that get you down throughout the day. I mean, seriously...what do you really have to worry about?
"Oh no...gas prices are $24 per half gallon and the economy is in the dumpster, and there's a mortgage crisis, and my cell phone bill is ridiculous this month...31,000 text messages?"
Does this sound like you on an almost daily basis? Well if it does...STOP! Just relax! Look at the big picture. You know that you're going to live with your Father for eternity. What do you really have to worry about? This life is like a drop in the bucket, so enjoy the limited time that you have. Be grateful!
Do you know anyone who's ever starved to death? Do you know anyone that is living on the street? I'm going to wager that you probably don't. Considering the fact that you're on the internet right this minute, I'm guessing that you can afford food and your house. If you paid your internet bill and not your mortgage, you've got issues and we need to talk (just kidding).
God will provide for you, and you're only here for a short amount of time anyway...so stop driving yourself insane with worry. Until next time, trust in God.
