Children's Need for a Positive Christian Role Model

Children are amazing and their abilities to learn and adapt are even more inspiring. Because their minds are continually learning and adjusting, it’s important to pay attention to those influencing them. Making sure that your child is surrounded by positive Christian role models will help them strengthen their own character and faith.

Guide through Example

A positive Christian role model needs to be consistently physically and emotionally present in a child’s life. Kids are highly motivated by an encouraging and helpful adult presence and thrive from their acceptance. If there is a lack of an encouraging Christian influence, your child may turn toward outside influences for guidance. This may include the rappers, rockers, actors, and athletes who flood our culture or even like older kids at their school or in their neighborhood. Unfortunately, these influences may not be the best role models for your child. That’s why it is so important to provide your child with role models that are honorable, respectful and show their love for the Lord.

Maximize Potential

Role models are a very powerful force for setting and achieving productive goals. Kid’s minds are naturally developed to learn from the experience of others- whether the experience is captured from books, stories, actual events or games. Children look to their surroundings for answers, which is why it’s imperative that children be exposed to good role models so they can develop their maximum potential in all aspects of their lives. A child may be intelligent, but if they do not have a positive Christian role model to show them qualities like persistence, determination, and forward thinking, then he or she is bound to be fall short of their true potential and likely to stray from the path that God set forth for them.

Now, more than ever, our youth needs positive examples of what good moral character and positive relationships look like. Just like a student learns math from their teacher, kids learn how to be responsible, caring and respectful from those around them. It’s important for children to be surrounded by strong, Christian adults with a good sense of right and wrong, so the children can see the importance of these characteristics. One of the best ways to show your love for the Lord is by inspiring that same love into the heart of a child.
