Of all the Christian movie reviews out there...this is by far the best.
Just kidding. But it is about a great movie, nevertheless. The Prestige is one of the more entertaining movies that I've seen in years.
When it first came out, it went a little bit under the radar. If you missed it in theaters, be sure and check it out on dvd.
Our story is about two rival magicians. When I say rival, I don't use that term loosely. In fact, one of them believes that the other was responsible for the death of his wife.
From that point, their relationship spirals out of control. They are constantly trying to one-up the other magician. They will stop at nothing to win.
Another interesting point about this movie was my discovery of the "mad scientist" Nikolai Tesla. Before this movie, I knew little about him. However, he was responsible for many of the things we take for granted today. Some of his experiments with electric current have never been reproduced to this day. That's pretty impressive, considering he lived in the 1800's.
The acting in this film is top-notch. Hugh Jackman delivers a great performance. Christian Bale is great, as always.
The director did a fantastic job with this movie. Just when you think you know what's going on, he twists and turns the story again. I also loved his last movie, "Batman Begins." In fact, when I saw the previews for this movie, I thought it was another Batman movie. It had the same director, Christian Bale, and Alfred. However, it turned out to be a coincedence.
Overall, this is a great movie. If you enjoy suspenseful movies and a good story, this is definitely for you. You might be wondering how this falls under the category of Christian movie reviews. Hmm...well...technically I'm a Christian, and I'm giving a review of this movie.
There you have it. Christians don't always have to watch Christian movies. Anyways...check out The Prestige.
