Christian Music Online
My absolute favorite place to listen to Christian radio is through Air 1. If you haven't heard of Air 1, it's cool. You can start listening today and then think about what you've been missing. Air 1 has stations all over the country and they also stream online. Personally, where I live, I don't get their station on the radio, but I listen online all the time.
They play a mix of Christian songs. Most of the songs they play would be classified as contemporary or alternative. You'll hear artists like Skillet, Red, Switchfoot, Flyleaf, Thousand Foot Krutch and TobyMac.
If you want to check out the station, do yourself a favor and do it sometime between 4:00 and 8:00 pm central time Monday through Friday. This is when Brant Hansen, their DJ is on and I think he is hilarious. Not to mention, he's has a way of talking about spiritual matters in a way that just makes sense.
Another way to get access to Christian music online is through Grooveshark. Many people still haven't heard of Grooveshark and it's really a shame. Let me give you a basic idea of how it works. You go to Grooveshark, search for songs that you like and then start listening to them...for free. That's right. It's free. The best part is that it's actually legal. They pay for everything with advertising on the site. You don't have to listen to commercials like Pandora or other Internet radio.
You can create a music library and playlists to listen to at any time. There are no limits and they have millions of songs. I listen to a lot of different music and I'm yet to find an artist that hasn't been on Grooveshark. So give it a shot and try it out. If you don't like it...well I don't know how to please you. It's free and unlimited. Go back to glaring at baby penguins.
Besides Grooveshark, a number of other similar companies are available for a small subscription fee. For example, some of the most popular companies in this genre are Rdio, MOG and Rhapsody. The subscription charges vary from $4.99 a month to $15.99 per month, depending on the options you choose.
There are a few potential reasons that you would choose one of these services over the free Grooveshark. If you can't find an artist that you like on Grooveshark, then you might be able to find it on one of these services. Another reason to consider one of these other services is so that you can listen to the music on your mobile device. For instance, with Rhapsody, you can connect multiple iPhones or Android phones so that you can listen while on the go. You can even set them up to play the music without an Internet connection.
Rhapsody also has an application that you can use through Vizio televisions. This allows you to stream your music to your TV speakers.
Feel free to check out some of these options and tell me what you thought. If you enjoyed this article about listening to Christian music online, please pay it forward and share it with some of your friends through the social networking buttons below. Thanks for stopping by The Modern Christian.
