Christian Parenting

Christian parenting can seem like a difficult thing in today's society. Everywhere you look, there are people fighting for your

child's attention. Most of the time, these outside sources are not providing your children with information that you would prefer them to have. Here are a few things to consider about how you can raise your children according to God's way.

The first thing that you need to consider is how much your child is going to absorb. This is especially true if your child is six years old or under. At this stage in life, they are basically like a sponge. Everything that they here is going to soak into their mind. Even if they are playing with a puzzle and the TV is on in the background, they are going to be hearing everything that comes out of the TV. This is why it is so critical for you to watch what you say and how you act around them. During this stage of life, you want to be very careful what you expose them to.

Regardless of what school you send them to, you want to always reinforce what they are learning with Biblical concepts. Every time that you get a chance, you should sit down with them and teach them about the Bible. When they are kids, this is easy because there are a number of children's books and children's Bibles that are designed for them. As they get older, you might have to be a little bit more creative.

Another important aspect of Christian parenting is discipline. If you leave out the discipline, your child is going to turn out badly. This could mean spanking, it could mean "time out," or it could mean a stern lecture depending on the age and personality of your child. Just remember that you cannot allow them to walk all over you or they will continue to do so.

Throughout the parenting process, you need to always turn to God. Every time that you need help, you should sit down and pray. It would also be a good idea to get in the habit of praying with your children. This way, God is going to bless you and your child as well as the process of bringing them up.
