Christian Response The Secret

Due to a negative Christian response The Secret is generally regarded as a hoax among them.

While some may find it intriguing, others are pretty much disgusted by such an idea. Their argument usually goes something like this..."Where is God in all of this? How arrogant can you be to suggest that we are basically our own God? How can you create everything you want without God? God didn't mean for everyone to be rich."

To the uneducated person, these are all valid points. According to Christian response The Secret is unwarranted. Under closer examination, we will find that the Bible actually backs up these claims. Jesus said, "It is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom." He wants us to be happy. No one was meant to live a life of poverty. Let's look at these claims a little more closely.

The process outlined in the movie the secret has three basic steps.

- Ask

- Believe

- Receive

While disbelief is the normal Christian response The Secret outlines another plan of action. All along, we have been taught to pray, but how often do you actually believe that you'll get what you ask for? Did Jesus endorse this plan of action?

In Mark 11:24 we learn from Jesus, "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Hmm...that sounds familiar.

Did Jesus really mean that we get some of the things we ask for? Or do we get what we ask for once in a while, when God feels like it? No! He said "whatever you ask for in prayer."

So the only thing left that could be holding us up is the definition of prayer. What is prayer? Is it simply reciting a group of words? Is it asking God for what you want? Many of us have been taught the only way to pray is verbally.

Here's another gem spoken from the mouth of Jesus. "And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him." Matthew 6:7,8.

How does God know what we want before we ask for it? What procedes the words? The thought! God sees exactly what we want as soon as we think it. Jesus himself said not to keep babbling, thinking that we will be heard. If you believe the overwhelming Christian response The Secret goes against prayer. However, under closer examination it's easy to see that it IS prayer.

Everyone knows that God created us in his own image. Is it so unbelievable that he actually made us co-creators of our own surroundings? This doesn't even come close to suggesting that we are our own God.

God created the entire universe and to govern it he developed a precise set of laws. Gravity we are all familiar with. We accept it and live with it. Why can't we work with the other laws as easily? The great rocket scientist Warner Von Braun said that, "The laws of this universe are so precise that we don't have any trouble sending a man to the moon, and we can time the landing with the precision of a fraction of a second."

Ask yourself this...Do you really think that God has to consciously make a decision to make something fall? When you let go of a rock, do you think God is sitting on his throne, making the rock hit the ground? Of course not! He put the law of gravity in place so he wouldn't have to.

The same is true of the Law of Attraction. After examining these truths, despite the Christian response The Secret is valid. It opens up a world of possibilities.
